You can try full-featured Bandwidth Splitter with 10 users. If you have more users, the others will not be affected and will work as before.

System requirements

Bandwidth Splitter requires the following minimum system configuration to operate:

• A 300 MHz Pentium II compatible processor
• 256 Mbytes of RAM
• The Windows 2000 Server operating system (with the latest service pack) or Windows Server 2003
• Microsoft ISA Server 2000/2004/2006 Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition with the latest service pack

All the install modes of ISA Server 2000 are supported: firewall, cache and integrated.

If you use ISA Server 2004, then its Service Pack 3 (or at least SP2 + hotfix KB919621) is required for complete functionality of Bandwidth Splitter. You may download it from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/downloads/isa/2004/servicepacks/default.mspx.
However, you may install Bandwidth Splitter without having this update. In this case Bandwidth Splitter will process only HTTP connections. If you install this update later, you will not need to reinstall Bandwidth Splitter.

Installation instructions

If you already have previous version of Bandwidth Splitter installed, you don't have to remove it (it's not recommended) before installing the new version. The installer will automatically update all necessary modules, and preserve Bandwidth Splitter configuration.

Installation is easy and straightforward. Just unzip the installer executable file from downloaded archive and launch it on your server. Installation wizard will guide you through regular steps. ISA Firewall service will need to be restarted during installation (you will be prompted to confirm this restart). Server reboot is not required in most cases.

Uninstaller is included. You can completely uninstall Bandwidth Splitter at any time using "Add or Remove Programs" tool in Control Panel.

If you want to install Bandwidth Splitter in ISA Server array having multiple nodes, you need to repeat the installation on every array member computer, one by one.

Bandwidth Splitter does not require installation of any software on client computers. However users may use special client monitor utility to track consuming bandwidth and traffic quota remainder in real-time. It can be run on any Windows system since Windows 95.

Free version limitations

Bandwidth Splitter allows free-of-charge use with up to ten (10) clients. This number should be quite enough to try all the features of Bandwidth Splitter and to determine if your network needs it. Then you can buy licence for necessary number of users. If ten clients are enough for you, you can continue using Bandwidth Splitter free of charge. However, you will not be entitled to technical support in the latter case.
